An undated portrait of Harvey Monroe Miller, who was born on 27 September 1871 in Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the son of James M. Miller (1835-1920) and Sarah [Hoffman] Miller (1835-1911). On 3 April 1903 he married Rose K. Sheetz (1881-1965), of Jefferson Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. They had one child, Sarah Miller, born in 1909. She married John George Ennis.
Harvey M. Miller was well-known as an author and poet. He self-published his work on a small Kelsey Letterpress, which he had in his home in Elizabethville, referring to his publishing company as “Hawthorne Press.” His wife Sarah hand-bound the finished books in leather, many having a unique appearance.
Harvey M. Miller wrote in both English and Pennsylvania Dutch and under the pseudonym Solly Hulsbuck.
He died on 17 June 1939 and is buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
