Guy R. Klinger (1889-1948) – Rural Mail Carrier

GUY R. KLINGER LAID TO REST SUNDAY

Guy R. Klinger, aged 59 years, died Thursday afternoon at the home of Walter Umholtz in Gratz.  He was a son of the late Daniel S. Klinger and wife, nee Elizabeth Erdman.  He was born in Gratz on 1 February 1889, and was a resident of Lykens for the past twenty-seven years.

Mr. Klinger was a member of Simeon’s Lutheran Church of Gratz.  He was a Rural Mail Carrier of Lykens, R. D., for the past forty years.  He was a member of the Elks of Sunbury; Shade Post American Legion of Gratz; Veterans of Foreign Wars of Wiconisco; and was secretary of the Gratz Horticultural Association the past thirty-four years.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Elizabeth Klinger and one daughter, Lois D. Klinger, at home; also by three sisters and one brother as follows.:  Miss Ursula Klinger, Gratz; Eston Klinger, of Oaklynm New Jersey; Mae Klinger, Mrs. C. R. Klinger, Spring Glen, R. D.,; and Fae Klinger, Mrs. Walter Umholtz, Gratz.

Funeral services were held from the Umholtz residence in Gratz on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock with his pastor, Rev. W. Z. Artz officiating.  Burial was in Gratz Union Cemetery.

Members of the Fair Board were active all bearers and honorary pall bearers were the Elks of Sunbury.  Military services were conducted by the V. F. W. of Wiconisco and the Shade Post American Legion of Gratz assisted by the Lykens Legion.
