This photograph was taken about 1909 of the students and teacher at the Geise School, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The date is approximate and based on the age of the only pupil identified in the picture, Helen [Hoffman] Dietrich (1895-1977) who is just to the right of the teacher in the back row (#41 in the number key).
The school was also known as the Gise School and was in existence for 100 years from about 1854 to 1954 when it closed and students from this part of the township began attending school in Gratz Borough.
