FATALLY INJURED WHEN HIT BY CAR
Injuries sustained when hit by a car near his home Thursday evening, proved fatal to Charles Shetron, 72, proprietor of a grocery store and fish market, Millersburg, who died in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, the following morning. The accident occurred at Union and walnut Streets, Millersburg.
According to advices, the accident occurred when Mr. Shetron stepped into the path of a car reported to have been operated by Ira Messersmith, of Millersburg. Messersmith said he was blinded by the lights of a car traveling in the opposite direction and for that reason did not see Mr. Shetron in time to avoid the accident.
Dr. Henry Hottenstein and Dr. J. A. Bogar, Millersburg physicians, rendered first aid treatment after which Mr. Shetron was taken to the hospital in the Millersburg American Legion Post ambulance.
Mr. Shetron who was a native of Franklin County, had been a resident of Millersburg the past forty-two years.
He is survived by his wife and one son, Garnet Shetron, of Millersburg.
Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church at St. Thomas, Franklin County, Monday afternoon, where interment was made. Rev. C. L. Mogel, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Millersburg, officiated.
