George H. Swab (1867-1949) – Elizabethville Blacksmith

GEORGE H. SWAB

George H. Swab, age 81 years, died at his home, West Main Street, town, Wednesday morning.  He had been in ill health some time.

Mr. Swab was a son of the late John G. Swab and Rachel [Schugar] Swab and was a native of Hailfax Township.  He has been a resident of Elizabethville most of his life and had engaged in the trade of blacksmithing more than fifty years.  Mr. Swab was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville.  He was a former member of the Elizabethville Borough Council and had also served a number of years as a director of the Elizabethville Water Company.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Emma [Harner] Swab, Elizabethville; one sister, Mrs. Ella Fluehrer of Los Angeles, California, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held from the residence at 2:00 Sunday afternoon.  Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, will officiate and interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Friends will call at the residence Saturday evening.
