Adam S. Shiffer (1887-1953) – Well Driller of Pillow

ADAM S. SHIFFER

Adam S. Shiffer, age 66 years, died at his home in Pillow Tuesday morning.  He had been a resident of that community twenty-nine years.

Mr. Shiffer was a son of Thomas Shiffer and Catherine [Paige] Shiffer, and was a native of Juniata County.  He had engaged in the well drilling business many years.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lottie [Weaver] Shiffer, four sons, William Shiffer and Henry Shiffer, of Millersburg; Fred C. Shiffer, Pillow; and Paul Shiffer of Klingerstown; one daughter, Mrs. Lee Byerly of Pillow and ten grandchildren.

Other survivors are two brothers, Claude Shiffer of Rife; Lee Shiffer, Halifax R.D.; and three sisters, Mrs. Samuel Wolfe of Herndon; Mrs. Henry Malick, of Secane, Pennsylvania; and Mr. Frank Tschopp, of Millersburg.

Service will be held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg, at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon.  Rev. G. P. Stoudt, pastor of Trinity Reformed Church, Millersburg, will officiate and interment will be in St. David’s Reformed Church at Killinger

Friends may call at the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg, Friday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00 o’clock.
