Disappearance of Tracy Kroh at Millersburg, 1989 (1)

On 5 August 1989, Tracy Kroh, a 17-year-old honor student at Halifax Area High School, left her home at Enterline, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, to deliver some items to her sister who lived north of Halifax, Dauphin County.  She was never seen again.  Her locked car was found in the town square at Millersburg, several miles north of her sister’s home.

This post is part of a series chronicling the efforts to find out what happened to her.  To date, nothing conclusive has been determined.  She was most likely the victim of foul play.  The case of her disappearance remains unsolved to this day.

This story is told through news articles appearing in regional newspapers available from Newspapers.com.

For all other blog posts on Tracy Kroh, see:  Disappearance of Tracy Kroh at Millersburg, 1989.

The article presented here from December 1989 tells of the effort of Metal industries (MI), a company where Tracy’s sister was employed, to obtain information about her disappearance.

From the Pottsville Republican, 19 December 1989:

Company joins search for missing girl

MILLERSBURG – A local company has joined state and local police departments in the effort to locate a 17-year-old girl who has been missing since August 5.

Metal Industries (MI)  Plastics and Metals Division has set aside $250 to erect signs seeking information about Tracy Kroh of Halifax, who was last seen on the square in Millersburg.

Spokeswoman Terrie Ann Gilbert says each year, employees donate a portion of their paychecks to the “Helping Hand” fund, which is designed to help families, especially during the holidays.  Part of this fund this year is going to the Kroh project.

Gilbert said there will be five 4-by-8 foot signs designed with Tracy Kroh’s vital statistics and contact numbers.

Tracy is 4 foot 11 with light brown, curly, shoulder-length hair, and green eyes.  When last seen she was wearing light blue shorts and a blue and white top.  She was believed to be carrying a purse with a horse or unicorn on it and has a “Roger Rabbit” key ring.  Anyone with information should contact state police at Lykens.
