Henry Bendigo – Porter Township Tax Collector & Hotel Proprietor at Orwin

SCHUYLKILL MEMORY LANE QUIZ

Clue: Not to be outdone by a tractor, this horse and buggy picture was taken at Orwin and shows some well known residents. Guesses are sure to be correct this week.

Answer: Picture in front of the Orwin Hotel in last week’s Memory Lane picture are Grace [Bendigo] Daub and her father, the late Henry Bendigo, proprietor of the hotel and former Porter Township tax collector, along with Mr. Piltz, driver of the team for the Lykens Brewery.

    Henry and Grace used to own our home in Halifax. I’ve been researching the history on our home and he is the last owner I can find. So interesting!
