Gratz High School Adds a Third Year, 1926

GRATZ HIGH SCHOOL ADDS ANOTHER GRADE

GRATZ, June 29 [1926] – At a meeting last Friday night of the Board of Directors of the Gratz Boro Schools, it was decided to have a three year high school in Gratz. During the past few weeks they have considered the plan of adding an additional year to the high school course, thus converting the present two-year system into one of three year’s duration.

The plan has been considered and approved by the State Department of Education, who will consider the school as belonging to the second class. The plan will go into effect at the opening of the fall term.

Last year the building was remodeled and improved in every manner to provide a sufficient space for a three year course. The building contains the town library, which is claimed by State Library officials to be the finest selection of books between Harrisburg and Pottsville. Fine, new chemical apparatus has been added to the laboratory supplies. All this with a large number of instructors will make the Gratz schools the best the town has ever had.
