Gratz News – June 6, 1929

The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, 5 June 1929:

Dr. and Mrs. G. M. Schminky of Harrisburg, called in town here with relatives and friends, Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schminky and son Herbert Schminky, of Lykens, attended the funeral of Mrs. Hannah Saltzer held here, Monday morning.

Lewis Knohr, student of Shippensburg State Normal School, is spending his summer vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Knohr and family.

Prof. Ruhl and Assistant Principal Miss C. M. Kaust, entertained their pupils by giving them an outing to Rolling Green Park, Friday.

Minerva Hartman spent several days during the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Klinger at Hegins.

Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Kratzer and children Esther Kratzer and Ralph Kratzer spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Troutman and family at Big Run.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Witmer and family, of Pine Grove, were callers in town, Tuesday of last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Willier and family, of Philadelphia, spent the week at the home of the former’s father, Rufus Willier and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Leffler and son John Leffler, of Pine Grove, attended the funeral of Mrs. Hannah Slatzer here, Monday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Umholtz, of Lykens, called with relatives in our town, May 30th.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schriver and daughter Anna Louise Schriver, of Elizabethville, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Frey, Thursday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ritebauch and daughter Anna Ritebauch, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klinger and children, of Lykens, spent Memorial Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Reed and family.

Miss Marie Buffington and friend Lieutenant F. H. Clay, of Harrisburg, spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Buffington and family.
