Catherine Alverta Travitz (1915-1926) – Loyalton Girl Died at Age 11

CATHARINE ALVERTA TRAVITZ

Catharine Alverta Travitz, the elveven year-0old daughter of Mrs. Annie Travitz of Loyalton, passed away on Sunday evening, after a long, lingering illness. For a while she was dropsical, and lately had improved so she could again go to school, and to her Sunday School, of which she was a faithful member, but a few weeks ago, there was a turn for the worse and now she has passed on beyond her troubles and her pitiable physical condition. For many weeks the mother took her to Harrisburg for medical attention only to prolong her life apparently only for a little while. When Catharine couldn’t go to Sunday School, she was always represented there by her offering, showing her interest in this great cause and good work.

Catharine is the daughter of Jacob Travitz and Annie Travitz. The father having preceded her in death about 5 years ago. Mrs. Travitz is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hoke.

Catharine was born in Loyalton and baptized in infancy by the Rev. G. H. Burrell. She was aged at death, 11 years, 10 months and 6 days.

She is survived by her bereaved mother, two grandparents, one sister, Lucy, Mrs. Harry Bruner, and one brother, Harry Travitz.

Funeral services were held from the home of her mother in Loyalton and in the U. E. Church at the latter place, this morning (Thursday) by the Rev. W. Z. Artz, assisted by Rev. Hoerner, of Williamstown, U. E. pastor of the Loyalton church.

The members of Catharine’s Sunday School Class were the pall bearers. Interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethvills. Funeral Director, Buffington.
