100th Anniversary Services at Simeon’s Church in Gratz, 1932

Services In Gratz Church Mark 100th Anniversary

A week of services that will mark the 100th anniversary of Simeon’s Lutheran and Reformed Church in Gratz will open Sunday, November 20th and continue to Sunday, November 27th.

The church was built in 1932 and renovated and its interior restored on the original colonial architecture during the past summer. During these one hundred years, it has been known as a Union Church with both Lutheran and Reformed congregations using it as a house of worship. Present pastors of the congregations are Rev. W. Z. Artz, Lutheran, and Rev. Dr. C. P. Wehr, Reformed.

The series of services will begin with the Lutheran Holy Communion Sunday, November 20, at 10:00 A.M. At this service the Rev. Dr. E. P. Pfatteicher of Philadelphia, President of the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania, will preach the sermon.

The Preparatorty services will be held Saturday evening, November 10th, when both pastors, Rev. Artz and Rev. Wehr will deliver short addresses.

The services will end with the Reformed Holy Communion on Sunday, November 27th when the Rev. Dr. Paul S. Leinbach of Philadelphia, editor of the Reformed Church Messenger, will preach the sermon.

During the week, the following pastors will occupy Simeon’s pulpit: Monday evening, Rev. R. E. Kramer, Berrysburg; Tuesday evening, Rev. W. R. Hartzel, Lykens; Wednesday, Rev. I. E. Frankenfield, Tower City; Thursday, Rev. E. L. Leisley, Danville, President of the Danville Lutheran Conference; Friday evening, Rev. Chalmers Wilson, Waick, D.D., of Sunbury; Saaturday evening, Rev. Paul S. Leinbach, D.D>, Philadelphia.

The United Choirs will render special music at all these services. A cordial invitation is extended.
