It is possible to estimate the date this photo was taken by estimating the age of the children:
- Earle Hoffman was born on 30 May 1895.
- Emily Hoffman was born on 20 February 1906.
Knowing that two Hoffman children are identified in the photo, it may be possible to say that the third Hoffman child, Russell Hoffman, who was born 6 November 1899, is the unidentified boy at the end of the third row. The mother of these children, identified in the photo as Jennie Hoffman, was the former Jennie Ritzman and was married to George Wellington Hoffman, the father of the three children.
The Union House burned to the ground in 1924.
