Millersburg – Plans for Dedication of Robinson Air Field, 1930 (3)

TOWN OFFICIALS CO-OPERATING WITH VALLEY AIR FIELD

City officials of the towns of Lykens Valley are doing all that is possible to assure a success of the Robinson Field air race and dedication.  Burgess Bowman of Millersburg; Snyder of Lykens; Shell of Tower City; and Myers of Williamstown, have all co-operated in making the dedication a real community affair. These farseeing officials have realized the need of an airport with ample facilities, in or near every community.  And knowing that it would be impracticable to have an air port owned by the joint municipal governments, and that it would be impossible for each town to have its own flying field there was only one other solution and that was a commercially operated airport centrally located that would serve the needs of the various towns in Lykens Valley.

These officials, as well as other prominent business men of the various communities are all working together with community interest at heart in order to assure Lykens Valley of an airport when the time requires that they have one.  It is really a notable effort they are making and they want these visiting flyers to go away remembering that Lykens Valley has an airport and last but not least that Lykens Valley is taking an interest in aviation.  They are further interested in forming a bond of good will with these aviators who travel all over the country and are endeavoring to do this by the cordial reception they will be given during their stay and by attending the mammoth aerial exhibition that will be staged at the airport on July 12th and 13th [1930].
