George S. J. Keen (1874-1934) – State Legislator & Wiconisco Druggist

WICONISCO DRUGGIST DIED SUNDAY

George S. J. Keen, age 59 years, died of a heart attack at his home in Wiconisco Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Keen was a native of Wiconisco and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Keen. He was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and had been a druggist in this community the past thirty-five years. Mr. Keen was a former postmaster of Wiconisco which office he held for twenty-two years and had also served as a member of the State Legislature from the second county district from 1907 to 1909.

He was a member of the Wiconisco Methodist Church and was affiliated with the Lykens Lodge of Masons; P. O. S. of A.; Knights of Pythias; and Odd Fellows fraternal orders.

Survivors are his widow, Mr. Hannah [Gebhardt] Keen; a daughter, Miss Marian Keen, member of the Reading, Pennsylvania school faculty; a son, Robert D. Keen, Philadelphia; and two brothers, Ambrose E. G. Keen, of Plymouth and Benjamin F. S. Keen of Wiconisco.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. Rev. R. B. Clark, pastor of the Wiconisco Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Wiconisco Cemetery.
