A 1908 photograph of the Pine Grove Band, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The photo was taken at the time of an engagement at Roedersville, Pennsylvania, for the Redmen Picnic. J. W. Walker of Tremont, Schuylkill County, was the photographer, and the camera was supposedly attached to his bicycle.
The band was under the direction of Prof. Irvin J. Leffler who served in that post from about 1886 to 1949. It is believed that the first band was formed about 1832, coinciding with the incorporation of the town.
