DIMP FIELD – WERT AND CLEMSON – BARN STORMERS
George Wert and John Clemson with Wert’s plane standing on Dimp Field, an officially named landing strip designated by the U. S. aviation. The landing strip is across from the Fort Halifax site marker along Route 147.
John Clemson was an officer during World War I and World War II. He flew military soldiers across the ocean for the war effort against the Germans during both wars. He became the President of Trans World Airlines (TWA) after World War II.
He was privileged to have known Amelia Earhart, Wilbur Wright, and Charles Lindbergh during his career with TWA Airlines.
