From the Lykens Register, May 3, 1900, comes the following story about the resignation of the superintendent of the Lykens and Williams Valley Street Railway and the appointment of a new superintendent and assistant:
NEW TROLLEY SUPERINTENDENT
W. O. Dewitt, who for the past several months has been acting as superintendent and electrician of the Lykens and Williams Valley Street Railway, has resigned his position which took effect May 1st. His successors will be Dr. G. M. Stites of Williamstown, as Superintendent, and William Hoover of Harrisburg, as assistant superintendent and electrician.
Mr. Dewitt came to take charge of this road from Catawissa, and ever since has been running the road to satisfaction, winning the good-will of all the employees on the road, a sure evidence that his service as their superintendent were appreciated by these men. With all the contentions he had to meet in operating a new road, he overcame without much difficulty and today the cars are running regularly. Socially, he is a good fellow, and his friends are pleased to know he will remain in our midst.
