Dauphin County Tax Relief, 1930-1938

An advertisement from the Lykens Standard, October 25, 1940, indicated that for delinquent taxpayers for the depression years of 1930 to 1938, an installment plan was available for delinquent taxes. The taxes still had to be paid if the delinquent taxpayer signed up for a five-year installment plan. A reminder was made that the 20% payment was due on or before November 1, 1940, with payment made at the Office of the County Treasurer, J. Q. A. Rutherford.

At the writing of this blog post, it is not known how many Lykens Valley area taxpayers took advantage of this plan to avoid foreclosure or how many properties actually went through foreclosure for unpaid taxes for those years.
