Dr. William Ellerslie Lebo (1874-1941)

FUNERAL TODAY FOR GRATZ PHYSICIAN

Dr. William Ellerslie Lebo, age 66 years, who had been a practicing physician in Gratz the past forty-four years, died in the Harrisburg Hospital on Monday.

Dr. Lebo was a son of the late Dr. William Lebo and Sarah [Boyer] Lebo, and was born in Valley View, 30 May 1874. He was a graduate of the Kutztown State Normal School and of the Medico Chirurgical College of Philadelphia.  He had aught school for two years earlier in life, but had practiced medicine forty-six years, all of which, except for two years residence in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, he resided in Gratz.  Dr. Lebo had been Medical Director of the Poor for the Upper Dauphin District, twenty-five years, and was also a former school director and member of the borough council of Gratz.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Pruella [Huntzinger] Lebo; three daughters and two sons, Elsie Lebo, Mrs. John Kratzer, of Elizabethville; Bertha Lebo, Mrs. H. P. Blyler, of Gratz; Gertrude Lebo, Mrs. Allen Walton, of Hummelstown; Rev. Ellerslie A. Lebo, of Millersville; and Dr. Arland A. Lebo, of Neffsville, Pennsylvania.

He is also survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. James Zerfing, of Gratz; Mrs. Austin Saltzer, Sacramento; Mrs. Clayton Herb, of Chambersburg; Mrs. Oscar Miller, of York; Mrs. Edward Butterwick, of Reading; Mrs. Irene Kopenhaver, Valley View; Mrs. Charles Strong, Clearfield; Mrs. William Snyder, of Sinking Springs; Joseph B. Lebo, Lititz; and Allen Lebo, Myerstown.

Private services will be held from the residence in Gratz at 2:00 o’clock this Thursday afternoon, Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of the Lykens Valley Lutheran Parish will officiate, and interment will be in the Gratz Cemetery.
