Albert Koons & Verna Mae [Heck] Koons -50th Wedding Anniversary

A colorized version of a studio photograph taken in 1921 for the marriage of Albert Koons and Verna Mae [Heck] Koons. The photo was published in the Pine Grove Press Herald, December 30, 1971, on the occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniversary, along with the following brief article:

FAMILY HOSTS AT PARTY HELD AT SUEDBERG FIRE COMPANY

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Koons of Pine Grove, RD3, were guests of honor at a party given by their sons and daughter-in-law for their 50th wedding anniversary on December 18 [1971].

The party was held in the Suedberg Fire Company Hall, where a buffet luncheon was served to 65 guests.

Mrs. Koons [Verna Mae Heck], who is 71, is the daughter of Alice Heck Folmer.

Mr. Koons, 73, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Koons.  He is a retired employee of the Fisher and Williams Mines, Tremont.  A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he is also a member of the Keystone Gunning Club, the Suedberg Fire Company and the Joliett Fire Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Koons were married by the late Rev. Robert S. Miller.  They attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pine Grove.

They have two sons, William Koons of New York State, and Lloyd Koons of Lebanon.  They have five grandchildren.
