Charles A. Yeager (1868-1941)

Esteemed Citizen of Lykens Succumbs to Heart Attack, Tuesday

With the death of Charles A. Yeager, Tuesday morning at 2 o’clock [2 July 1941], which occurred at his residence on North Street, Lykens, Lykens lost one of its most esteemed residents who participated in all public enterprises, worked diligently for the town’s advancement, having served as Secretary of Lykens Borough Council for a period of 21 years.

Mr. Yeager became ill more than two years ago and since that time suffered from a heart condition.  He has been a resident of Lykens since 1904, having been engaged in the insurance business following which he was employed as the bookkeeper for the Wentzler Brewery for many years.

Mr. Yeager was born in Orwigsburg, 17 August 1868, and was a son of the late George Yeager and Emma Yeager.  in 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Barbara Ellen Moyer, of Reading, who with two brothers, Harry E. Yeager and Claude S. Yeager, both of Orwigsburg, survive.  He was a member of Liberty Hose Company and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Reiff & Helt Funeral Parlor, Main Street, with Rev. P. O. Reitz, pastor of st. John’s Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial will be made in the Wiconisco Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral parlor after 7 o’clock, Friday evening.
