Charles G. Riegle (1876-1913) – Resolution of Respect from I.O.O.F.

On the occasion of the death of Charles G. Riegle at the Short Mountain Colliery, 19 March 1913, the Gratztown Lodge of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, issued a Resolution of Respect for their fallen brother:

Resolutions of Respect

In memory of Brother Charles G. Reigle [Riegle], who died March 19, 1913:

Once again death hath summoned a brother Odd Fellow, and the golden gateway to the Eternal City opened to welcome him to his home. He has completed his work to visit the sick, relieve the distressed and bringing joy into the place of our gathering; and as his reward has received the plaudit, “Well done” from the Supreme Master.

And, whereas, the allwise and merciful Father hath called our beloved and respected brother home; and whereas he having been a true and worthy brother of Gratztown Lodge, No. 563, I.O.O.F. of Pennsylvania, therefore be it –

RESOLVED, That we, in testimony of our loss, tender our sincere condolence in this deep affliction,

“So let him sleep that dreamless sleep,

Our sorrows clustering round his head; Be comforted, ye who weep,

He lives with God – he is not dead.”

CLINTON E. HOFFMAN, DANIEL KOPPENHAVER, GOWEN WIEST, Committee.
