Loyalton Man Killed in Coal Rush, To Be Buried Today
Clyde J. Miller, 42, a resident of Loyalton for 25 tears, met death by suffocation when he was covered by a rush of coal in the Shiro Mine, Short Mountain, on Monday, 3:30 p.m. His body was recovered by fellow-workmen approximately two hours after. According to reliable information, the rush of coal occurred when weakened timber broke.
Mr. Miller was born in Selinsgrove and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Miller, having been born May 12, 1904. He was united in marriage to Miss Effie E. Klinger, Loyalton, who with two children, Betty Miller and Hilda Miller, at home, survive. Four brothers: William Miller, Penbrook; Claude Miller, Loyalton; Raymond Miller, Lykens; Roy Miller, Tower City; and four sisters, Mazie, Mrs. Charles Musser, Halifax; Ann, Mrs. Samuel Willi, New Jersey; Mabel, Mrs. Daniel Rowe, Wiconisco; Mrs. Albert Sitlinger, Lykens Township, also survive. He was a member of the Evangelical U. B. Church, Loyalton, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Millersburg.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from his late home in Loyalton. Rev. C. E. Strohl, pastor of the Loyalton Church, officiating, and burial will be made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
