Dr. J. Nevin Baker – Dentist of Lykens, 1908

In dentistry, as in the general practice of medicine, Lykens has a representative that is experienced, progressive and well equipped as any in the valley. Dr. J. Nevin Baker established himself here fifteen years ago and has been decidedly successful in every way, developing a practice that extends to many surrounding communities and acquiring a reputation as an operator of exceptional skill and ability. Dr. Baker is a graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. His splendidly furnished office on Main Street may be said to be by far the best equipped in this section of Dauphin and Schuylkill Counties. Dr. Baker has made a close study of anesthetic and his experience in administering nitrous-oxide gas, ether and local anesthetics, is frequently recognized by all physicians here who often call upon him to assist them in their operation work. Dr. Baker has always taken a very lively interest in all progressive projects effecting the material improvement of local conditions. He is now a member of the School Board, a director of the Lykens Savings Fund and Loan Corporation, and has been active in Masonic work. An office is also maintained at Willliamstown, the Doctor spending two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, in that borough.
