Again the bowels of the earth have taken toll, and on Wednesday about noon, George Dreibelbis, 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dreibelbis of Wiconisco, was crushed to death at Bick Lick Colliery, of the Susquehanna Collieries Company. The place where the accident occurred was a new working and George Dreibelbis in company with John Nace of Dayton, and William Adams of Williamstown, were working in Big Lick Tunnel, No. 7 Slope.
The men were in the act of drilling two prop holes. They had completed one and were about to start the second when the top slate fell catching young Dreibelbis, crushing the rear of his skull. Death was almost instantaneous.
Dreibelbis is survived by his parents, three brothers, William Dreibelbis, Mason Dreibelbis, and Joseph Dreibelbis, and three sisters, Marlene Dreibelbis, Hattie Dreibelbis, and Marlon Dreibelbis.
Fraternally he was a member of Washington Camp, 148, P. O. S. of A., of Wiconisco, and the United Mine Workers of America, of Williamstown. The former organization will have charge of the funeral which will be held from his home in Wiconisco. Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, services being conducted in the United Evangelical church by the Rev. Thomas Knecht. Burial will be made in Wiconisco Cemetery.
