Estella Cayton was my great grandmother. She had six children: 4 daughters, 2 sons. She died from breast cancer when she was about 49. My grandfather, Zena, was 6 years old. The family moved to California’s central valley near Stockton-Lodi area. Estella had emigrated from Sweden, so she was 100% Swedish. She had changed her name from Amanda to Estella to be “Americanized.” Zena named his 1st born child, a girl, after his mother. Estella Fern Cayton (Dargitz) 1921-2001. My middle name is Estelle after my aunt–she went by Estelle and not Estella. –
