Gideon W. Shadle (1880-1947) – Retired from Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank

GIDEON W. SHADLE PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

Gideon Willis Shadle, age 66 years, died at his home, 930 South Paxon Street, Philadelphia, Sunday.  He had been a resident of that city twenty-five years.

Mr. Shadle was the son of the late Frank Shadle and Catherine [Harner] Shadle, and was a native of Big Run, Washington Township.  He was a former resident of Elizabethville and Scranton.

Mr. Shadle had been employed by the Federal Reserve Bank, Philadelphia, many year, prior to his retirement in January, 1946.

Mr. Shadle was a member of the Lutheran Church, and of the Peter Williamson Masonic Lodge No. 323, of Scranton.

Survivors are his wife, formerly Miss Lydia Hawk, of Elizabehville; one son, Philip L. Shadle; and two grandchildren, Philip L. Shadle Jr., and Lynne V. Shadle, of Glenside; and two sisters, Miss Mary Shadle and Miss Cardella Shadle, both of Elizabehville.

Funeral services were held from the Ardella Funeral Home, Philadelphia, Tuesday evening, and were conducted from Buffington Funeral Home, Elizabethville, at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Phares O. Reitz, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, officiated, and interment was in the St. John’s Church Cemetery.  Masonic burial rites were conducted at the grave by members of Ashlar Masonic Lodge, Lykens.
