A 2010 photograph of the section of the Gratz History Mural featuring Odd Fellows Hall, a building built by the I. O. O. F. in 1872. The local lodge of this racist (whites only) fraternal group dated back to about 1860 and it remained influential in the community into the first quarter of the 20th century. Other local organizations that used this hall for their meetings were the Kissinger Post of the G. A. R. (Grand Army of the Republic) and the Grange.
The small building to the right of the main hall was the home of the Gratz Fire Company after it was founded in 1924 following the Great Gratz Fire of that year.
On May 30, 2005, a 75-foot wall mural entitled “A Walk Through History” was dedicated in the Community Building in Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, commemorating 200 years of Gratz history and recognizing the people from the past and present who together have made Gratz “a place to call home.” A small portion of the mural is pictured above.
