A reproduction picture post card photo of the Boy Scout Cabin in Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, as it existed about 1982. The cabin was located just off the present cul-de-sac parking area for the State Game Lands which are accessed from Spruce Street. Today, few remnants of the cabin remain.
According to information from local sources, the original structure was erected about 1942 and later enlarged. The fifteen acres of timber land surrounding the cabin were purchased by the Boy Scouts of America and therefore made tax exempt. At its height, all sorts of activities were conducted here, including some that one resident described as deviant. The building measured 42 by 20 feet. There was a large screened porch, a mess hall, and a room with bunk beds.
