Gratz Fair Cancelled for 2020

The organizers of the Gratz Fair have canceled the 2020 event which was scheduled to take place in September. They have urged all to “remind ourselves of the past [fairs].” What better way to do so than to look at past postings here on the Lykens Valley Blog? To do so, simply click on the words “Gratz Fair” and the result will be a large collection of photos and stories.

The article presented here is from the Citizen-Standard, Valley View, June 25, 2020.

2020 Gratz Fair Cancelled Due to COVID-19

GRATZ – It’s with sadness that organizers announce the “cancellation” of the 2020 Gratz Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Until next year, let’s remind ourselves of the past; those static exhibits in the Arts and Crafts Building and Ag Hall, the different species of livestock in the barns, and the exhibitors that made it all happen.  Then there are vendors of every kind, entertainment, food, rides and games, queen contest and just making memories.  The fair board and superintendents had been busy over these many month until COVID-19.

With this virus and the many precautions necessary to keep the public, staff and others safe, the CDC and Governor’s guidelines on large gatherings, organizers felt it best not to hold the annual event.  We love this fair and the many volunteers, sponsors, contributors and patrons who made it happen year after year.

The Gratz Fair organizers are looking at ways to provide opportunities for market livestock exhibitors.  More info will follow as plans develop.
