Gratz News – December 14, 1927

The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, for the week of 14 December 1927:

Rev. and Mrs. Reichert, of Berrysburg, were entertained at the home of C. U. Kratzer and family, Thursday evening.

Mrs. Kate Fenstermacher, of Harrisburg, is spending several weeks at the home of Francis Fenstermacher and family north of town.

Mr. and Mrs. Moss of Millersburg were the guests of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kissinger and family, Sunday.

Stanley Klinger and family moved to Herndon, Thursday, where Mr. Klinger is employed.

Walter Umholtz , of Hegins, called in town Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gwyther, Mr. and Mrs. John Gwyther, of Wiconisco, were the guests of Jacob Witmer and family, Thursday evening.

Harry Miller and family moved their household goods to Valley View on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Huntzinger, of Hegins, attended the funeral of the child of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Williard, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Witmer and daughter called on Jacob Witmer and family, Tuesday.

Mrs. Blair Shminky and children Lucille Shminky and Jimmie Shminky were visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kissinger at Wiconisco over the week end.

Charles Umholtz, of Newton, Kansas, after having spent the month at the home of H. G. Buffington and family, returned to his home at Kansas.

Charles Buffington and family and Thomas Zerby and family, of Sunbury and Wilbur Buffington and family of Herndon, were also recent visitors at the home of H. G. Buffington.

Miss Anna Buffington and George Adams spent Thursday at Shamokin.

Charles Laudenslager, Raymond Dechert and Marlin Umholtz spent Friday evening at Shamokin.

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Willier were spending some time in Texas.

Joseph H. Hartman attended court at Harrisburg, Friday.

George Kissinger and family of Valley View, called on H. G. Buffington and family Friday of last week.

Prof. and Mrs. Hurst and son Artie Hurst accompanied by Miss Kaust spent Saturday afternoon at Lykens.
