Gratz News – December 7, 1927

The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, 7 December 1927:

Mrs. Ursula Klinger, Mrs. Clarence Klinger, and Mrs. Walter Umholtz, of Hegins, were seen in our town, Wednesday.

Marlin Umholtz, Miss Helen Umholtz, and Miss Esta Bowman took in the movies at Lykens, Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hess and Joseph Laudenslager made a trip to Harrisburg, Tuesday.

Mrs. John Hoffman, of Lykens, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Umholtz and family a few weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Troxell announce the birth of a daughter on Friday, December 2, [1927].

Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Blyler, Mrs. Joe Rissinger, Miss Mabel Hartman and Miss Ethel Troxell spent the day at Harrisburg Saturday where they did some shopping.

Mr. and Mrs. William Troutman and children Charlotte Troutman and Anna Troutman, of Loyalton, were the guests of the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Kratzer and family.

Mrs. Arthur Shadle, of Spring Glen, spent several days with her sister, Mrs. Harry Miller.

Mr. and Mrs. Longnecker, of Lykens, were business callers in town, Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Harner and daughters Eleanor Harner and Edna Harner visited with the latter’s father, Edgar Romberger and family at Rough and Ready for several days of last week.

Mrs. Clarence Koppenhaver and daughter Betty Koppenhaver spent several days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Kissinger and family at Valley View last week.

Lloyd Harner made a trip to Lewistown, Sunday.

Mrs. Ira Rothermel and son Robert Rothermel are the guests of her sister Mrs. Allen Himmelberger and family at Tremont this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Shade with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Huntzinger of Hegins.

Preston Artz and Stanley Klinger made a trip to Sunbury, Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klinger, Mrs. William Brosious, Mrs. Allen Strayer, and Mrs. Ira Rothermel did some Xmas shopping at Harrisburg on Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klinger, Mrs. Amanda Coleman and Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder visited at Penbrook on Sunday.

The Lutheran and Reformed Sunday Schools will render their Xmas program in the L. & R. Church on Christmas eve, December 24th.
