The following news briefs were published in the “Gratz News” section of a local newspaper, for the week of 26 May 1926:
The Reformed Sunday School will be held on Sunday, May 30th at 6 o’clock, p.m. Immediately after this service the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Gratz will hold a Memorial Service in the Lutheran & Reformed Church, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Kline, of Urban, will deliver the address on Odd Fellowship. Special singing and recitations. All invited to attend both of these sessions.
The Gratz baseball team defeated the Berrysburg nine on Saturday by the score of 6 to 2 in a well played game. Berrysburg will play at Gratz on Saturday, May 29 at 5 p.m. Come and support the boys.
Walter Henninger of Elizabethville, visited at the home of Luther Smeltz over the weekend.
Mrs. Willie Deitrich and children Ruby Deitrich and Lester Deitrich and Mrs. Clarence Enders and daughter, of Lykens, spent Sunday at the home of Harry Hepler and family.
Harold Coleman, of Wiconisco, spent Saturday in town.
Allen Strayer journeyed to Harrisburg on Wednesday to bring a new car.
Mrs. Artie Williams spent Monday and Tuesday at Lebanon.
Miss Ethel Smith, of Susquehanna University, spent the week end with her mother, Mrs. Carrie Smith.
Robert Sinders, of Mahanoy City, spent the week-end at the home of Harry Hess.
Dr. Lebo made a business trip to Cressonia, Thursday.
Ralph Schminky, Charles Daniels, Lewis Hepler and Gordon Schminky motored to Sunbury, Sunday.
John Schminky sold his big bull to Jay Phillips, and O. T. Tobias sold a fat heifer and calf to the same party.
Raymond Martz purchased a new car from George Adams.
Margaret Koppenhaver & Raymond Schlegel enjoyed a delightful trip up the Hudson over the week-end.
Harry Hepler and wife spent Saturday at Harrisburg.
Mr. Allen Klinger, of Klinger & Son, Inc., spent the week at Philadelphia on business. While there he witnessed a double header between Philadelphia and Washington.
The following visited at the home of Herbert Williard on Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kahler and son, of Shamokin; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krissinger and son Arthur Krissinger, of near Rebuck; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Daniel, daughter Violet Daniel and sons Milton Daniel, Ralph Daniel, Guy Daniel, and James Daniel, of near Gratz and Henry Klinger, of near Erdman.
