Ku Klux Klan Rally at Gratz Fairgrounds, 1924

An advertisement that appeared in the Lykens Standard, 3 October 1924, for the Ku Klux Klan rally that was to be the concluding event of the 1924 Gratz Fair.

Saturday, 4 October [1924]

At Gratz Fair Grounds

From noon to midnight

KLAN SPEAKERS!

BIG NATURALIZATION

Men, Women and Boys at Nine o’clock P.M.

Klansmen, Klanswomen and Families and all Native Born, White, Protestant, Gentile American Citizens and Families are Invited

Refreshments and Lunch Will Be Sold on the Grounds

Bus Service Between P. O. P. of A. Hall, Lykens, and Fair Grounds

Reports following the event estimated that more than 5000 persons participated, giving Gratz the dubious distinction of hosting the largest K. K. K. demonstration ever held in the Lykens Valley.
