Loressa P. [Adams] McClain (1924-2020) – Widow of Lykens Bible Church Pastor

The following obituary is from the website of the Eastman Funeral Home, Norwalk, Ohio:

Loressa Paulina McClain, 95, of Norwalk Ohio, entered heaven peacefully August 3, 2020, at Gaymont Care Facility.

She was born on October 26, 1924, to the late Mark Adams and Alice [Deppen] Adams, of County Line, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Loressa graduated from Line Mountain High School in 1942.

She married the late Rev. James E. McClain Sr. on June 19, 1943 and began a life of ministry in churches serving at Paxton Pennsylvania; North Wildwood, New Jersey; Perkasie; York and Lykens, Pennsylvania. A gifted pianist and vocalist, Loressa assisted in ministry teaching God’s Word living an exemplary Christian life. Through the years she helped supplement the family income working at the Hershey Chocolate factory, Botany 500 Clothing Manufacturers., and Children’s Clothing. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed tatting, knitting, crocheting, and dressmaking. She enjoyed serving as a volunteer at Fisher Titus Hospital, playing piano, singing in the choir, and participating in the bell choir at church….

Loressa was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1991….

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 during the morning service at 10:15 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio. A graveside committal is planned at Pomfret Manor Cemetery in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

As stated in the obituary, Rev. James E. McClain Sr., died in 1991. His obituary appeared in the York Sunday News, February 24, 1991:

The Rev. James E. McClain Sr., of Dalmatia, Northumberland County, died Friday at his home.  He was 77.

The Rev. McClain was a pastor of the North Hills Bible Church from 1967 to 1979.  He was a graduate of Lighthouse Bible College and Pioneer Theological Seminary, Rockford, Illinois, where he received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in theology.

He founded the Paxton Bible Church, Dalmatia, where he was ordained in November 1940.  He served there from 1939 to 1947.  At the time of his passing, he was pastor of Valley Bible Church, Lykens, Dauphin County.

Born in Sunbury, he was a son of the late Thomas McClain and Martha [Erwin] McClain….

Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
