Lykens – State Trooper Hit By Ice Cream Truck, 1925

STATE TROOPER HURT

Tuesday evening, as State Trooper Verbecken was returning to Lykens from Elizabethville, he was struck by a Burdan ice cream truck and received minor injuries. Verbecken sounded his horn to pass the truck, and as he came up beside it, the truck, which had a bent axle, failed to respond to the steering gear and swerved to the left side of the road. Verbecken was brought to Lykens by W. Chaundy, and had his injuries treated by Dr. Perfect. The patient is now resting fine and expects to be about his regular duties before long.
