Lykens Valley Construction Company Dividend, 1911

The Lykens Valley Construction Company, the concern that was building the Midland Pennsylvania Railroad, announced in August 1911 that it was awarding a dividend.

LYKENS VALLEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY DECLARED DIVIDEND OF 1 1-2 P.C.

Concern Building Railroad From Millersburg To Ashland Already On Way To Prosperity

At a recent meeting f the Board of Directors of rthe Lykens Valley Construction Company, held at Hegins, a dividend of one and one-half per cent was declared, payable next Tuesday.  The Lykens Valley Construction Company is a part of the general development scheme of the Lykens Valley and holds the contract for the construction of the Midland Pennsylvania Railroad through from Millersburg to Ashland.  It is paid on installments as the work progresses.

Its initial work was to prepare plans, secure rights of way, and to establish a strong community of interests in support of the railroad.  Among the shareholders are W. E. Harrington, president of the Midland Pennsylvania; Dimmer Beeber, president of the Commonwealth Title, Insurance and Trust Company, of Philadelphia; Finley Acker, president of the Finley Acker Company; William Burnham, president of the Standard Steel Car Company; and a number of other prominent residents in Tamaqua, Pottsville, Norristown and throughout the Lykens Valley.
