Mark L. Clark (1921-1944) – Wrote Letters to Troops

GRATZ RESIDENT PASSED AWAY

Mark Lincoln Clark, sons of Charles Clark and wife Jennie [Haage] Clark died on Monday afternoon, 25 September [1944] at his home at the age of 23 years, 6 months and 12 days.  He was a former member of the Gratz Boy Scouts, and though he was kept from doing active service in the armies of the country because of sickness, yet he did his share in keeping up the morale of the boys in the armed forces by writing letters to all the boys in the service from the home town.  He has a collection of more than 300 letters written in answer to his own.

He was born in Gratz, 13 March 1921.  He was a member of Simeon’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his parents and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Adeline Weaver, of Gratz.

Funeral services will be held from the home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, with his pastor, Rev. W. Z. Artz, officiating.  Interment will be made in the Gratz Union Cemetery.

Marlin Reed will have charge of the arrangements.
