Mary M. Albright (1899-1944) – Women’s Army Corps, World War II

FUNERAL YESTERDAY FOR WAC MEMBER

Pvt. Mary M. Albright, age 44 years, formerly of Halifax, died in the Will Rogers Air Field Hospital, Oklahoma City, on Friday.

Private Albright, who was a former teacher in the commercial department of the Susquehanna Township HIgh School, enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in June 1943.  She was a graduate of the Elizabethtown College and also studied at Penn State College and Temple University.

She is survived by four brothers, Capt. Miles W. Albright, former athletic coach at John Harris High School, Harrisburg; J. E. Albright, of Northumberland; and Albert F. Albright and David C. Albright of Halifax.

Funeral services were held from the Charles C. Baker Funeral Home, Harrisburg, Wednesday afternoon.  Rev. Dr. H. E. Schaeffer, pastor of the Penbrook United Brethren Church, of which she was a member, and Rev. G. W. Moyer, pastor of the Halifax Reformed Church, officiated.  Interment was made in the Bucks Valley Church Cemetery.
