Aged Gratz Resident Died Saturday
Mrs. Mary Lehr, age 88 years, 6 months and 15 days, oldest resident of the Gratz community, died at her home, that place, at 10 o’clock Saturday evening.
Mrs. Lehr was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Maurer, and was born April 28, 1848 in Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County. She was married March 9, 1878, to Daniel R. Lehr, who preceded her in death forty-eight years ago. She was a member of the Rough and Ready Lutheran Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Katie Himmelberger of Tremont; Mrs. Daniel Knohr, and Mrs. Ira Rothermel, both of Gratz, eleven grandchildren and one brother, David Maurer, of Shamokin.
Funeral services were held from the residence at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning with further services in Simeon’s Lutheran and Reformed Church, Gratz. Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of the Lykens Valley Lutheran Parish officiated and interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
