From the West Schuylkill Herald of Tower City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, of 16 December 1927, came the following notice of the instant death of Michael Romiski, a worker at the East Brookside Colliery:
Miner Instantly Killed at East Brookside
Michael Romiski, a miner employed at East Brookside Colliery, was instantly killed by a fall of rock shortly after beginning his day’s work. His body was badly crushed about the head and chest, and his death was instant. The accident occurred on his thirty-fourth birthday.
The body was removed to his home at Williamstown, from which place the funeral was held on Monday morning at 9 o’clock. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery at Lykens.
The Romiski family had resided at Sheridan until several months ago when he purchased a hotel property at Williamstown and moved to that place, vacating the beautiful brick home, which he had built west of the Sheridan school house.
Romiski was born in Poland, 9 December 1893. He is survived by his wife and six children. Funeral director J. B. Ralph had charge.
