The building was completely renovated and opened in November 1953 as stated in two paragraphs of text that accompanied the photo:
“The completely renovated elementary school on Moore Street was ready for occupancy in November of 1953. The pupils were housed in churches and the American Legion building during the first two months of the 1953-1954 term of school while the work on the school was being finished. When they moved back into the school, children and teachers were equally surprised at the changes that had taken place. The interior of the restored building is new and includes thirteen classrooms, a teachers’ room, a health room, an office, boys’ and girls’ toilets on both floors, and a multi-purpose room. The heating system is of the latest design and is completely automatic.
“Visitors to the Moore Street School all agree that Millersburg has one of the best elementary school plants in the area. The total cost of this project was $240,000, which is but a fraction of the amount that it would have been necessary to invest in a new school.”
