Millersburg Watermelon Thieves Confess, 1926

MILLERSBURG YOUTHS CONFESS TO THEFT OF WATERMELONS

Four youths, Melvin Lebo, Elvin Schwalm, Homer Schwalm, and Walter Warfel of Millersburg, confessed to the theft of five watermelons, stolen during the warm nights early in August, before Judge Hargest in the Dauphin County Court, on Monday.

E. E. Beidleman, counsel for the young boys asked for leniency and the Clerk of the Courts, Harry Fairchilds of Millersburg, also entered the same plea, saying that he knew the boys. The hearing was held in open session of court and the Judge paroled them.
