NANCY J. BOHNER

Nancy J. Bohner, a lifelong resident of Lykens, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022; in the same home she was born in 92 years earlier to the late Ralph Kratzer and Mary [Minnich] Kratzer.

Nancy was a 1947 graduate of Lykens High School, where she served as a drum major for the band. She was also a drum major for the Lykens Liberty Hose Company Band, the only drum major the band ever had.

Upon graduation, Nancy worked as an interior designer at Goldsmith Furniture in Harrisburg. She later began working for the Upper Dauphin Area School District as a teacher aid and then became secretary, a position she held for 17 years with the district.

Nancy was the owner of the Art of Living Flower Shop in Lykens, a successful business she operated for over 35 years. She had a talent for floral designs that were unique and original.

She was a life-long member of St. Christopher Lutheran Church, Lykens, where she belonged to the choir, altar guild, and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Glen Chapter 425. Nancy was a former Girl Scout Leader in Lykens and a member and past president of the former Lykens Garden Club.

She was an accomplished artist and designer who took great pride in her home. Her artwork is featured in many publications. She was an avid Penn State fan who always looked forward to spending time in State College.

Above all, her children and grandchildren were her world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Robert Bohner, 2017, and a sister, June Kratzer.

She is survived by her three children, Jean Graham and her husband Lewis Graham, Doylestown, Robert Bohner and his companion Cheryl Ketelle, State College, and Don Bohner and his wife Wendy Bohner, Lewes, Delaware; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Wiconisco.
