A colorized photograph from around 1916 of the teacher and pupils of the Exmoor School, Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The caption indicated that the photo was supplied by Paul Douglas of Friedensburg to the Pine Grove Press-Herald for publication in its “Down Memory Lane” feature, May 31, 1973. The identifications were provided by Miss Marion Spittler. Sarah [Clements] Douglas, deceased in 1973, wife of Paul Douglas is one of the students pictured in the photo.

In the publication of the photo on May 31, 1973, it was noted that certain individuals were “deceased.” A correction was made in the Pine Grove Press-Herald, June 21 1973, as follows:
“Down Memory Lane” published a photograph taken at Exmoor School in 1916…. The list of pupils included the name of Arville Smith, listed as “deceased.” Miss Smith, now Mrs. Cooper, is not deceased, but is living in Lebanon R. D. She is a widow; her husband, the late George Cooper, is buried in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.
