Dear —–:

In reply to your inquiry of November 10 regarding military service records, we are sending a marked copy of our Information Leaflet #4, which describes the records available and explains the type of service that we are able to provide.

On the terms stated in sections 6 and 7 of leaflet 4, we can provide you with certificate under seal, based on original documents in our custody, indicating that one Benjamin Buffington was enrolled as a Private, 6th Class, Captain Martin Weaver‘s 6th Company, 4th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia, according to the evidence of a Company Return dated 1778.

And that one George Buffington was enrolled as a Private, 8th Class, Captain Martin Weaver‘s 6th Company, 4th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia, according to the evidence of a Company Return dated 1778.  residence in both instances is ascribed to Upper Paxtang Township.

And that one George Bufenton enlisted November 7, 1777 as a Private, Captain Martin Weaver‘s Company, 4th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia, in service of the United States, according to the evidence of a Muster Roll dated at Montgomery, Philadelphia, December 30, 1777.  Our military records disclose almost no genealogical of descriptive detail.
