Rev. Dr. Oliver L. Mease (1883-1946) – Former Millersburg Pastor

REV. DR. O. L. MEASE DIED FRIDAY

Rev. Dr. O. L. Mease, age 62 years, pastor of the First United Brethren Church, Shamokin, died at the Geisinger Memorial Hospital, Danville on Friday, following a brief illness.

Rev. Dr. Mease was a native of Lebanon County.  He was a graduate of Lebanon Valley College, Annville, and Bonebrake Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.  He received the degree of doctor of theology from Temple University, Philadelphia, and the degree of doctor of divinity from Lebanon Valley College.

During his ministry he served as pastor of United Brethren churches at Myerstown; Mountville; Millersburg; State Street Church, Harrisburg; and Mt. Joy; and Shamokin.

Rev. Dr. Mease was secretary of the conference missionary department and church extension board, and chairman of the firsts-year reading courses for young ministers.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude [Shenk] Mease; two brothers; three sisters; and a grand-daughter.

Funeral services were held in the Shamokin Church Tuesday evening with further services in the United Brethren Church at Columbia Wednesday afternoon.  Interment was made in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery at Columbia.
