Millersburg Dedicates Airport Tomorrow
MILLERSBURG, July 11 [1930] Shown above are the men who will be prominent in the ceremonies attending the dedication of the Millersburg Airport here tomorrow and Sunday. Photographed in front of the hangar on the field, they are, left to right: Pat Brooke, director and sales manager of the Lancaster and Bethlehem Airways; Stanley Kech, flier; J. P. Jones, vice-president of the Lancaster and Bethlehem Airways; Marion “Hops” Gilbert, pilot of the airport; and “Doc” Ulrich, grandfather, who is financing the project.
A number of planes are expected to arrive here for the air meet tomorrow and Sunday. Two women pilots will be among the fliers. Among the parachute jumpers expected here are Hody Reichenband [sic] and Miss Violet Kilpatrick.
A grandstand to accommodate 300 persons was erected on the field. Senator James J. Davis and Congressman I. H. Doutrich are scheduled to speak. County Commissioner M. Harvey Taylor is also among the speakers. Burgesses from surrounding communities are expected to attend. The Millersburg Navy Band will play.
