Trolley Bridge at Williamstown Blown Up, 1925

TROLLEY BRIDGE RAZED AT WILLIAMSTOWN

Williamstown — July 20 [1925] — East End of this borough was the scene of a great gathering Sunday morning when more than two thousand people assembled to see the trolley bridge spanning the tracks of the Pennsylvania railroad being razed by dynamite. The work was under direction of Squire Shadel who was unable to control the crowd and keep autos out of the danger zone. He called State Troopers from Lykens situation to his assistance and was amazed at their quick. They got the large numbers of spectators into safety zones and the bridge which has served as means of travel over the railroad tracks for nearly ten years was razed by dynamite.
